Day Eleven: Bungee Jumping

I started this day very late with a 9:00 wake up. I rushed out the door to catch up to cory, elliott and rita who were waiting for parker to land from paragliding.
I saw him off in the distance and ran throught a tall grass field and made it in time to see him land. At breakfast 15 minutes later, i itched my eye and thought nothing of it. After parkers paragliding, we made a stop at cafe 3692 which is owned and operated by Johanns brother bruno. Bruno is a carpenter and his restaurant featured some amazing woodwork. He even had a minecart grill which served as an indoor fireplace in the winter and an outdoor grill in the summer. Every part of the cafe has been touched by his creativity with woodworking. 15 minutes after visiting brunos cafe, i noticed that my eye still felt weird. I looked in the mirror and the entire bottom right side of my eyeball had was swollen and red. I figured it was an allergic reaction from the grass and  fortunately, my dear mother had packed allergy medicine. I got some additional eyedrops from rita and then we headed off to see a castle in Thun.

The castle was built in 1200. It never served as a residence but was used as a town meeting hall (rathaus), grain storage center and jail among other things. After a qucik tour of the castle, we headed down to the town square and had lunch. Once lunch was over, we drove a few more minutes to bungee jumping!

We met up with the group at 5:00 and were greeted by the bungee jumping company with a cooler full of beer. Once we had all been weighed, categorized and equipped with harnesses, we rode a cable car up into the mountains over an alpine lake to jump. There were around 12 other people jumping that day and of those 12, two were also going to be freshmen at smu next year. What are the odds that would happen!

I jumped first and it was pretty awesome. Its hard to describe but i sorta felt like a 5 year old jumping off the high dive for the first time, only i was 400 ft. above the water instead of 9ft. I fell for about 5 seconds before i was slowed by the bungee cord and bounced back up a few times. Then i was lowered into a boat and taken to shore where i waited for cory and elliott.

Elliott attempted a backflip which was executed very well:
Cory tried to do a gainer but only rotated a quarter of the way, which basicly meant that he fell most of the way with his back to the water. The G-rated version of what the australian guy working in the boat said was "it was really bad." They also "accidentally" tea-bagged cory, which means dipping a bungee jumper into the freezing alpline lake before bringing him into the boat. After bungee jumping we headed home, went out to a restaurant with rita next to interlocken and went to bed.
